Standing Out from the Competition
Understanding these essentials of the industry can help graduates stand out from the competition when they’re applying for jobs in cannabis. The kind of employment competition that the industry sees is due to the market’s quick growth.
Industrial hemp is estimated to be a $22 billion industry in the United States alone. New regulations as of July 2021 allow marijuana facilities in Pennsylvania to sell hemp products that are grown in the state.
Lackawanna College’s Professional certificate is the first step in program graduates distinguishing themselves from everyone they’ll be up against for jobs.
Recruiters want to know not only that applicants are familiar with the industry but also that they’re passionate about it. If they see that a candidate took cannabis classes and earned a certificate, that will be a good mark counted in that individual’s favor.
Think of it this way: if recruiters have two candidates for a cannabis production job, and only one has demonstrated a commitment to the industry by taking cannabis education courses and earning a certificate, that recruiter is likely to go for the candidate who has put in more work.
Ultimately, graduates who have earned a cannabis certification from Lackawanna College will have the foundational knowledge necessary to find work in the cannabis industry or even build a company with its own brand of products.
