Lackawanna College’s Environmental Education Center in Lackawanna County’s Covington Township hosts several unique public programs, including our multi-level beekeeping certificate program.

The center partners with Lackawanna’s Police Academy to offer a conservation and natural resource officer certification. It also prepares business professionals to incorporate sustainability into their lives, careers and businesses through the sustainable leadership certificate program.

The Environmental Education Center offers a number of programs for students seeking a high-quality education in fields relating to the environment and conservation.

Why choose the Environmental Education Center? 

Dedicated in memory of Nancy Coccodrilli Angeli, the late wife of President Emeritus Raymond S. Angeli, the Lackawanna College Environmental Education Center rests on 211 acres of property in Covington Township and is Gold LEED-certified.

The building provides a venue with seating for up to 100 people and hosts progressive programs for the public, the college, and K-12 educators and students.

The center is also home to many camps for kids of all ages throughout the year.

Students looking to get involved can join the Green Falcons or volunteer or intern on-site.

LCEEC sits amidst forests, fields, and hiking trails that offer a variety of recreational and educational opportunities. The center is located within a 5,000-square-foot Gold LEED-certified green building that is constructed to be environmentally responsible and resource-efficient.

LCEEC offers educational public programs and camps year-round for the community. These programs are available for students from preschool through college and focus on the outdoors, sustainability, and compassion for the natural world.
