Rally for Restaurants

Lackawanna College joins Scranton Tomorrow and the City of Scranton for Rally for Restaurants, an initiative that brings the community and organizations together to support local restaurants that are struggling due to the COVID-19 health crisis.

Lackawanna College’s student-run restaurant, 409 on Adams’ has opened its doors to participating restaurants, allowing the use of its talented student chefs, kitchens, outdoor event space, wait staff, food and beverages free of charge. The funds from meals purchased by you during Rally for Restaurants go directly to the participating restaurant to help offset funds lost due to capacity restrictions.

Lackawanna College Rally for Restaurants and Metz Culinary Management have committed to raising up to $10,000 to award to one local restaurant in need!

Dine at 409

We’ve made it as easy as pie to support your favorite local restaurants! You can enjoy a drink and dinner in our outdoor heated tents located on the patio at 409 on Adams. Our talented student chefs prepare menus, and each dining experience promises new, bold cuisines and styles to offer you the most memorable culinary experience.

COVID-19 Dining Guidelines

ALL DINERS MUST COMPLETE self-screening through CampusClear before arriving at 409 on Adams. Individuals may be asked to provide their self-screening results at any time.

Self-Screening may be completed through the mobile app or by computer printout or before dining in the restaurant. You can print your results from or by downloading the free CampusClear app to your phone.

Other COVID-19 Dining Guidelines

  • Reservations are required.
  • Tables will be reserved for 1.5 hours for each party due to COVID-19 restrictions.
  • Table sizes are available in 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 people. Parties over 6 people can call the restaurant at 570-955-1548 to make reservations.
  • One-time use paper menus will be utilized for dinner and cocktails.
  • Masks are required upon arrival and at all times when leaving your table.

All dining will take place indoors at 409 on Adams until fairer weather permits additional outdoor seating. Indoor dining requires limited seating to follow social distancing guidelines, with a maximum of 40 diners per seating.

Takeout is available by calling the restaurant from 5-7 p.m. Pre-orders will be accepted prior to the dining date if desired.

Rally for Restaurants: E-Commerce Edition

Lackawanna College has been awarded a $150,000 CARES Technology Assistance Grant to support an initiative that will create e-commerce solutions for struggling Scranton restaurants. This funding will be used to support 36 restaurants in the Lackawanna College Rally for Restaurants: E-commerce Edition presented by the Venture Lab. Participants in the program will be able to:

launch websites
create online ordering systems
receive training on how to use digital media to boost sales

Restaurants who complete the program will receive one year of ongoing and cost-free tech support through the Lackawanna College Venture Lab for marketing, online ordering, social media, and the restaurant’s website.

These funds are awarded to the city through the Federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program from the Housing and Urban Development Administration (HUD).
